Various Types Of Helmet Camera To Choose From

The helmet camera is also referred as bullet camera, micro video camera, and lipstick camera. It is a type of camera attached to the helmet, which enables someone to capture visual record from their point of view (POV). The camera lets you capture video while keeping your hands and vision free.

Categories to choose from

  • CMOS or complementary metal oxide semiconductor- It is based on complementary metal oxide semiconductor image sensor. It operates on 5VDC and requires very little power. Furthermore, CMOS helmet cameras are smaller, but do not offer the same video clarity offered by CCD. The CMOS helmet camera doesn’t work well in environment with low or restricted light.
  • CCD or charge coupled device- It is called CCD because it is based upon the charge coupled device image sensor. It operates on 12VC power with analog type signal. This type of helmet camera draws more power as compared with CMOS, but the good thing is that it offers high quality video and better color replication.
Many sports enthusiasts prefer to use helmet camera as it enables them to capture the essence of the sports they are into. Most pilots bring bullet camera with them to record their flights. The camera can be mounted on their foot, helmet or elsewhere to capture distinct camera angles.

The helmet camera can be connected to the video recording device with very good video input capability such as purpose build digital video recorder and handheld camcorder. Because of the advantages brought by using helmet camera, even cyclists use the camera when taking their ride. The helmet camera acts as a safety aid for it enables cyclist to record their journey as well as record incidents from their point of view POV. The captured recording can be presented as evidence in the court in case of any untoward events.
